Pre-wedding photo

I couldn't get the colour right on this photo but I still wanted to use it.  It was taken in my basement suite in Prince George sometime during the summer (or fall) of 1974:

I had a great time at Fabricland Saturday.  Decided I'd drop by to see what they had that I could use for the "dress" ~ pleasant surprise to see a large Special sale weekend for members - a lot marked to 70% off.   I got gorgeous different sheers/laces and scrap denim to patch Larry's jeans (finally got that done today!) and even some gorgeous red fabric to make myself a blouse - all for $20.     The "flower" to the left in the close up was made with a scrap of 1.25" wide sheer with embroidered scallop border.   If you look closely, the button I used for its centre is a rose.

Wedding Album continued

I'm really quite pleased with this page even though I dropped a new green distress ink pad onto it and had to hide the mark I couldn't remove with a flower.    Probably should have inked the edges of the white butterfly I attached to the flower.

The "love" and "cherish" chipboard are Dusty Attic.  I painted them with white gesso and then melted on blue embossing powder.  I threaded clear seed beads on each stick pin before pushing it through the foam of the raised pop-up square.

The second page isn't coming to me as quickly as this one did.  I cut the black and white card stock in half and am using the white with black designed for the upper half of next page and the white shimmer paper on the bottom half this time; same wide wired ribbon separating the two.  I've probably printed too many black and white pictures for the next page.

Wedding Album

I figure 37.5 years late is better than not at all.  If our photographer hadn't experimented with a new yellow filter he had been dying to try (sure, I really think you should use it for the very first time when you have been employed as a wedding photographer; albeit a very low budget photographer and a low budget wedding) ....and there pops up that old saying, "you get what you pay for".   Unfortunately, we were very young and on a very limited budget, so we didn't opt for the expensive studio photographer.  I made my own wedding dress ($50) and my bridesmaid's dress.  Kim was my best friend growing up.  She flew from Vancouver (to PG) to be my bridesmaid.

You'll notice that I have blurred many backgrounds because of the poor colour (and because some of the backgrounds were oh so tacky!).

The scroll is Dusty Attic; first gesso'd, then spritzed with different ink mists and the Vintage Name Plate DA0463 was gesso'd and then inked.  I wanted to use the "sheet music" paper but it seemed too in-your-face, so I used watered-down gesso to paint it first.

I've used Dusty Attic's mini words #1 DA 0386 first gesso'd and then inked or painted.  I left the Mini Fountain DA0653 naked so it wouldn't detract from my painting underneath*. The bird cage is Color Me Crazy by Petaloo.   I made the blue flowers by painting some cardstock and, when dry, used white ink to stamp a clear acrylic flower stamp... semi-dried, fussy-cut and curled the petals of the upper flower while the paper was still slightly damp.  I splurged on a package of Prima flowers and the white butterfly in the first picture is from that pkg.

*okay, so it isn't really a painting...  I had trimmed a piece of letter-size photo paper and used the scraps to save my desk when I painted the chipboard in the first photo.   So you see, I'm still extremely frugal!

Scraplift from Gabrielle Pollacco

Gabrielle Pollacco's website:  Such a Pretty Mess.   I love checking out Gabrielle's blog http://gabriellepollacco.blogspot.ca/.  She is such a great artist and shares her layouts along with how to videos.   You really need to check her out.   The template for this couture girl and a few others are on Gabrielle's website.     I didn't know where I could use it so decided that it would make a good Title Page for my 1970's album.
